The Sudoku Instructions Playing Board
The columns are named column A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I.
Enter, Make, Save, Load And Reload Sudoku PuzzlesYou can easily enter Sudoku puzzles from newspapers, magazines and books with a built-in testing for errors. You can construct Sudoku puzzles of any difficulty: beginner, very easy, easy, medium, difficult, very difficult and extremely difficult. Each time the program will generate a new puzzle for you - previous puzzles are never repeated. You can save any Sudoku puzzle in a simple standard text format. The puzzles you have saved, you can load and solve at any time you want it. You can also save a partially solved Sudoku puzzle so that you later can reload and resume solving it further at a convenient time from where you left it. This you can do repeatedly. In this way you can solve a difficult sudoku puzzle stepwise in several sessions.
Features To Help You Solve Any Sudoku PuzzleYou can get valuable tips or hints (hint 1 and hint 2) at any stage during solving. You will be able to see every possible number in each square (the candidate table), as you can see in the picture below.
You will find the input of numbers very easy: Just click on a square and on a number in a pop-up number panel. If the candidate table is displayed it is even simpler: just click on the candidate number you want. At any stage you can define the numbers to be displayed in the candidate table. This can be a great help if you want to eliminate candidate numbers yourself without the help of the program. You can even remove candidate numbers 'manually' from the candidate table without the help of the program. If you are a Sudoku expert, this feature may be of particular interest for you. After you have entered a number the program will update the candidate table automatically. You can easily find single candidates (squares, in which only one number can be placed). The program will display the single candidate square with a green frame and the single candidate number will be shown in green bold type if the candidate table is displayed (see the picture above). To make it easier for you to find single candidates you can let the program suggest removal of candidate numbers (candidate reduction). The program can help you eliminate candidate numbers using a number of methods. These range from reasonably simple methods to quite difficult methods, which may be effective in solving particularly difficult sudoku puzzles. The program will explain in very simple terms why and how certain candidate numbers can be removed with these methods. More about the Sudoku Instructions Program candidate reduction methods here. If you wish, the program may at each step perform a maximum candidate reduction using the above methods. You will find this a very powerful feature. The program supports the tie-breaker-method and Ariadne's thread in particularly difficult Sudoku puzzles. These advanced methods are explained in the program's help file. Thus you can solve any Sudoku puzzle using this program.
Additional Features Of The Sudoku Instructions ProgramYou can always go back one step, if you have made a mistake. The program remembers the candidate table from the earlier steps. You will find this feature most helpful. If you want a fast computer solution, the program can do this immediately. The program can solve even the most difficult Sudoku puzzle at once. You can see the comments provided by the program at every step in a special text box for comments (see picture above). You can also see a description (log) of the whole solving process in a large text box. You can copy this description to your word processor for saving or printing. The original Sudoku puzzle and the solved puzzle (if solved) are also shown in this text box (see picture above). Thanks to the program's built-in timer you can see the time it takes to solve a given Sudoku puzzle. You can print the current Sudoku puzzle or more Sudoku puzzles of any difficulty using your own printer. Six puzzles will fit on a legal or A4 sized page. You will no longer need to buy Sudoku puzzle magazines or books.
